About ShairoShairi
ShairoShairi began in 2004 as a small corner of the early web devoted to Urdu and Hindi poetry — a place where verses could be shared, remembered, and read in Roman script by anyone, anywhere.
Founded by Wakas Mir, the project grew out of his love for the Urdu language — a love shaped by years on the air as an Urdu radio presenter since 1994. Wakas conceived the site, shaped its direction, and gathered the early community of enthusiasts that made it home.
Today the archive holds 0 poems from classical masters to contemporary voices — Ghalib and Meer beside Faiz, Jaun Eliya, Parveen Shakir, and many more.
